Suitable for commercial landscapes, domestic properties, sports pitches and more, the Classic turf range that the team here at Inturf can provide is produced using a unique blend of tetraploid grass that is designed to create a more aesthetically pleasing surface.
As well as looking great, our Classic turf is far cheaper to maintain than other turfing options on the market and, like all our turfing options, is designed with the environment in mind with a significantly reduced impact on the world around us.
Incredibly strong, our Classic turf is resistant to both drought and wear, and due to the way the turf’s shoot density blends with the fescues used in the mixture, it has a stunning colour all year round that suits every season.
The benefits of our Classic turf are vast and include:
In terms of Classic turf maintenance, it can be mowed to as low as 6mm but can be kept to a height of 50mm if you’d prefer. And the longer the grass, the better it is at dealing with adverse weather conditions. Rotary mowers are the best option for heights of cut above 20mm.
If you need golf course turf, tennis court turf or turfing solutions for a whole host of other purposes, then Classic turf is the perfect product for you. Supplying quality turfing solutions to customers across York, Grantham, Pocklington and nationwide, get in touch with Inturf today.

CHARACTERISTICS
Classic turf gives super sward density and cleanness of cut, fast establishment with superior tensile strength combined with high drought and wear tolerance. Bargold has great shoot density and blends very effectively with the fescues in the mixture.
Slender creeping red fescue has a good colour during the summer, autumn and early winter, it also has excellent salt tolerance and a rhizomatous growth habit. Strong creeping red fescue has better colour during late winter and spring. Combining these three species provides better colour for longer hence why these grasses are chosen together.
NUTRITION
Classic turf can survive happily on low fertiliser regimes and usually requires a maximum of 150kg Nitrogen per ha per year.
This can be provided by two applications of fertiliser – one in the spring and one in the autumn – April & September. Slow-release and organic fertilisers are recommended.
MOWING
Bargold can be mown as low as 6mm with a well-adjusted cylinder mower. But it can also be maintained at a height of up to 50mm should it be required. Rotary mowers are the best option for heights of cut above 20mm.
The key to maintaining quality is to mow regularly, and never to take more than a quarter of the leaf off at any one time. The longer the grass, the better the turf can cope with adverse weather conditions.
For example, the length of grass is directly proportional to the depth of rooting, which in turn provides better tolerance to drought conditions.
SEED MIX
– 30% Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass
– 35% Slender Creeping Red Fescue

Turf should ideally be laid as soon as possible after delivery, especially during the summer months (April to September), to ensure optimal freshness and health. If turf is left rolled up in the heat it can sustain turf heating.
Immediately after installation, turf should be watered thoroughly, both in the morning and evening, for approximately one hour each time, for a period of 28 days unless there is significant rainfall. Read our blog on ‘Watering newly laid turf’ for more information.
It is recommended to lay the turf as soon as it is delivered, particularly during warmer months, to prevent drying out and ensure successful establishment.
