Ornamental Bark Mulch is a premium-quality mulch ideal for smaller-scale professional and domestic landscaping projects where a neat, decorative finish is essential. Its rich mid-brown hue enhances the visual appeal of both new and existing planted areas, while its long-lasting performance makes it a practical and cost-effective choice for gardens, pathways, and ornamental beds.
This versatile mulch has a nominal particle size range of 5–35mm, offering a free-flowing texture that is easy to handle and apply. Processed from sustainably sourced British pine, Douglas fir, and larch bark, Ornamental Bark Mulch is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and is 100% peat-free, making it an environmentally friendly option for landscaping.
With a lifespan of over two years, this mulch is highly durable and naturally fire-resistant, confirmed by rigorous testing to BS 4790:1987 standards. It’s particularly useful in areas with fire risk, such as car parks, housing estates, and pedestrian walkways. Its insulating properties also protect soil from extreme temperatures, helping to maintain plant health in adverse weather conditions.
Beyond its aesthetic value, Ornamental Bark Mulch offers practical benefits such as suppressing weed growth, conserving soil moisture, and reducing the need for chemical weed control or excessive watering. As it decomposes, the mulch slowly improves the soil’s organic content, promoting long-term plant vitality.
To achieve the best results, ensure the area is weed-free before application. Spread the mulch evenly over moist, freshly cultivated soil at a depth of 50–100mm, allowing for a 5% settlement. Once applied, avoid disturbing the mulch to maintain its longevity.

Turf should ideally be laid as soon as possible after delivery, especially during the summer months (April to September), to ensure optimal freshness and health. If turf is left rolled up in the heat it can sustain turf heating.
Immediately after installation, turf should be watered thoroughly, both in the morning and evening, for approximately one hour each time, for a period of 28 days unless there is significant rainfall. Read our blog on ‘Watering newly laid turf’ for more information.
It is recommended to lay the turf as soon as it is delivered, particularly during warmer months, to prevent drying out and ensure successful establishment.
