Made from 100% fescue grass, our Masters turf is perfect for creating stunning versatile lawns, for golf courses, bowling greens, ornamental landscapes and more. As well as being incredibly durable, meaning it can cope with whatever the great British weather has to throw at it, fescue turf is made from the finest grasses – guaranteeing a splendid appearance whatever the season.
The team here at Inturf always puts our client’s needs at the very heart of everything we do, tailoring mixes that meet the exact requirements of those we’re working with. We understand that every project is unique, which is why we regularly develop custom mixes using fescue that look great, are practical and better for the environment.
Masters turf is also fairly low maintenance and can live quite happily on low fertiliser regimes and only needs around 150kg of nitrogen per hectare per year. And, when it comes to mowing the turf, it can be cut to as low as 5mm. If you’re using Masters turf for golf courses, we’d recommend 5-8mm for surrounds and 10-12mm for tees. In general, the longer the grass, the better the turf can cope with wear and tear. For bunker tops this turf is often left to grow without mowing to achieve a more natural festuca look.

CHARACTERISTICS
Masters 100% Fescue gives a dense, consistent sward, with the fineness of leaf expected of a high-quality turfgrass. Slender creeping red fescue has a good colour during the summer, autumn and early winter.
It also has excellent salt tolerance and a rhizomatous growth habit. Chewings fescue has better colour during late winter and spring. Combining the two subspecies provides better colour for longer hence why the two grasses are chosen together.
NUTRITION
100% Fescue can survive happily on low fertiliser regimes and usually requires a maximum of 150kg Nitrogen per ha per year.
This can be provided by two applications of fertiliser – one in the spring and one in the autumn – April & September. Slow-release and organic fertilisers are recommended.
MOWING
Fescues can be mown as low as 5mm with a well adjusted cylinder mower. For greens we recommend 5-8mm. For tees we recommend 10-12mm.
In general, the longer the grass, the better the turf can cope with wear and tear. For bunker tops this turf is often left to grow without mowing to achieve a more natural festuca look.

Turf should ideally be laid as soon as possible after delivery, especially during the summer months (April to September), to ensure optimal freshness and health. If turf is left rolled up in the heat it can sustain turf heating.
Immediately after installation, turf should be watered thoroughly, both in the morning and evening, for approximately one hour each time, for a period of 28 days unless there is significant rainfall. Read our blog on ‘Watering newly laid turf’ for more information.
It is recommended to lay the turf as soon as it is delivered, particularly during warmer months, to prevent drying out and ensure successful establishment.
