Hybrid turf is an advanced solution for high-performance surfaces combining the natural beauty of grass with the resilience of polyethylene fibres. Ideal for sports fields, festivals, events, and public spaces, our Hybrid turf delivers exceptional durability and rapid recovery, making it a perfect choice for any demanding environment.
Hybrid turf is a meticulously crafted blend of natural grass and durable polyethylene fibres, offering several distinct advantages. With polyethylene fibres attached to a robust woven backing, our Hybrid turf can withstand intensive use over extended periods, outperforming natural grass alone.
The polyethylene fibres protect the grass from wear, aiding in recovery and ensuring your turf looks vibrant and healthy. This makes Hybrid turf suitable for a wide range of sports including football, rugby, cricket, golf, and tennis, as well as festivals, events, and other public spaces. The artificial fibres provide stability and support, while the natural grass offers the softness and lush green appearance that you would expect.
Our hybrid turf comes with lay and play technology, which allows for quick installation and minimises downtime. Unlike traditional stitched systems that are grown and installed on-site, requiring significant downtime, our hybrid turf is cultivated in our fields under ideal conditions. Once ready, it’s transported to your location and swiftly laid, making it ready use in a significantly shorter period. This reduces the waiting period and maximises pitch availability, a valuable benefit in high-demand situations such as sports pitches and golf courses with busy schedules.
The flexible lay-and-play technology is also ideal for temporary setups, such as events or concerts, where you need both high-quality turf and easy removal after use. This flexibility offers a reliable, resilient turf solution that adapts to various needs while providing natural aesthetics and performance.
Inturf’s Hybrid turf offers numerous benefits that make it an ideal choice for various applications. Its enhanced resilience allows for year-round use regardless of weather conditions, and its durability reduces the need for repairs and replacements, translating into long-term cost savings.
Additionally, the turf provides a soft, cushioned surface that reduces the risk of injuries during sports and recreational activities. Aesthetically, Hybrid turf maintains a lush, green appearance year-round, enhancing the visual appeal of any space.
Inturf Hybrid turf is versatile and suitable for a variety of applications, including:
Our Hybrid turf is designed with sustainability at its core. The turf carpet is crafted from a single type of polymer, making it 100% recyclable and minimising environmental impact. The Hybrid turf is built to last over a decade with proper care, easily withstanding regular maintenance and use.
When the turf is eventually removed, it offers flexible options for reuse. It can be thoroughly cleaned of organic material and repurposed on pathways or high-traffic areas. If timing allows, it can also be harvested and used at a new site, extending its life cycle and ensuring minimal waste. This monomaterial solution combines durability with recyclability, giving you a sustainable choice that performs season after season.
We also grow all of our turf plastic netting-free, highlighting Inturf’s commitment to sustainable practices and the importance of choosing environmentally responsible turf products.
Maintaining Hybrid turf is similar to caring for standard natural turfgrass, with a few essential practices to ensure its longevity and performance. Regular maintenance practices such as verti-cutting to manage organic matter and aeration with solid pencil tines to promote healthy root growth are crucial.
It is important to avoid excessive sand topdressing, as this can bury the synthetic fibres and compromise the turf’s integrity. Careful mowing is necessary, ensuring the blade height is set above the artificial fibres to prevent damage. Initially, the hybrid system should be aerated to a depth of 75-100mm until the root system is well established; deeper aeration can be performed afterward for optimal root health.
By adhering to these maintenance guidelines, Hybrid turf can provide a reliable and high-performing surface for sports activities, ensuring optimal playing conditions and durability.
How long does Hybrid turf last?
With proper maintenance, Hybrid turf can last significantly longer than natural turf alone, ensuring lasting performance and durability based on usage.
Is Hybrid turf safe for children and pets?

CHARACTERISTICS
Hybrid turf is a sophisticated blend of natural grass and polyethylene fibres, designed to endure intensive use over extended periods.
This innovative turf system is suitable for numerous sports, including football, rugby, cricket, golf and tennis, as well as for large garden spaces, festivals, events and public spaces.
The polyethylene fibres are attached to a robust, woven backing, providing additional support and protection to the natural grass, allowing it to handle more wear and tear than natural turf alone. The fibres help protect the plant from wear and aid recovery, making hybrid turf ideal for those who want the benefits of both artificial and natural turf. The artificial layer provides stability and protection, while the natural turf layer offers the softness and vibrant colour expected from turf.
MAINTENANCE
The maintenance of Hybrid turf mirrors that of a standard natural grass field but with a few key considerations to ensure longevity and performance.
Regular maintenance practices are essential, such as verti-cutting to manage organic matter and aeration with solid pencil tines to promote healthy root growth. It is crucial to avoid excessive sand topdressing, as this can bury the synthetic fibres, and to use aeration tools that do not damage the turf’s backing. These steps help maintain the integrity and appearance of the turf over time.
For mowing, it is important to set the blade height above the artificial fibres to prevent damage. The hybrid system should be aerated initially to a depth of 75-100mm until the root system is well established, after which deeper aeration can be performed. By adhering to these maintenance guidelines, Hybrid turf can provide a reliable and high-performing surface for sports activities, ensuring optimal playing conditions and durability.

Immediately after installation, turf should be watered thoroughly, both in the morning and evening, for approximately one hour each time, for a period of 28 days unless there is significant rainfall. Read our blog on ‘Watering newly laid turf’ for more information.
