Here at Inturf we are a well-established turf grower and have always focused on delivering quality through responsible turf management and professional production. More than just a provider of high-quality turf, our approach combines agronomic expertise, sustainable growing practices and efficient operations to ensure the turf we produce meets the highest standards.
Over many years in the industry, we have continued to refine how we grow, harvest and supply turf to ensure our processes support both product performance and responsible environmental management. From production methods to machinery and resource use, sustainability is built into our systems rather than treated as an add-on.
Founded on a Legacy of Excellence
With decades of experience behind us, Inturf has grown to become a trusted name in the turf industry. Our focus has always been on producing consistent, durable turf that performs well once laid, whether for landscaping projects, sports surfaces or commercial developments.
Our long-standing reputation is built on reliability, quality control and practical experience in turf production. By continually refining our growing systems and operational processes, we ensure our customers receive turf that is strong, resilient and ready to establish successfully.
Sustainable Turf Production
Sustainability plays an important role in how our turf is grown. From an agronomic perspective, we operate low-input growing regimes, carefully managing fertiliser use and only applying nutrients when agronomically justified. All production takes place outside of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones, and nutrient use is closely monitored to avoid leaching and unnecessary inputs.
Our approach to plant protection also reflects modern sustainable practices. Today we use very few insecticides, in line with regulatory changes and our long-standing integrated pest management strategy. Wherever possible, we rely on cultural practices, maintaining strong sward density and encouraging natural resilience within the turf rather than relying on chemical intervention.
Responsible Materials and Efficient Harvesting
A key aspect of our production approach is the use of plastic netting-free turf. By growing turf without plastic reinforcement, we provide a natural product that avoids introducing unnecessary materials into the soil once installed.
Harvesting is carried out using modern, wide-area machinery designed to maximise efficiency. This allows us to reduce the number of passes across the fields, minimise fuel use and protect soil structure during the harvesting process. Efficient machinery also helps streamline operations while maintaining the quality of the turf being lifted.
Water Stewardship and Environmental Responsibility
Water management is another important part of responsible turf production. All irrigation and water abstraction is managed strictly within Environment Agency water extraction licences. Irrigation is applied carefully and efficiently to support healthy plant growth rather than simply driving higher production rates.
Maintaining a healthy, well-managed turf crop also plays a role in environmental performance. Independent studies undertaken previously have demonstrated that, at the point of production, our turf is carbon neutral. This assessment relates specifically to our production systems and machinery use, rather than downstream transport or installation.”
Working with Responsible Industry Partners
Alongside our own production practices, we carefully consider the partners and products we work with. Any supplier we collaborate with must reflect the same standards of quality, sustainability and long-term performance that we apply to our own turf production.
A good example of this is TerraCottem, a leading soil conditioner that we have proudly distributed for more than 30 years. TerraCottem improves soil structure and supports stronger root development, helping plants establish successfully even in challenging or poor soils.
The TerraCottem range is classed as being Waterwise, meaning it helps soil retain and manage moisture more effectively. By improving water availability within the root zone, TerraCottem can reduce irrigation requirements while supporting healthy plant growth. This approach aligns with the growing importance of water efficiency across landscaping and planting projects, helping use water resources more responsibly while improving plant establishment.
Producing Quality Turf Responsibly
Ultimately, our objective is simple: to produce high-quality, durable turf while managing land responsibly and protecting natural resources. By focusing on efficient production systems, careful agronomic management and sustainable growing practices, we are able to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance standards our customers expect.
As the turf industry continues to evolve, Inturf remains committed to refining our processes and maintaining responsible production practices that support both the environment and the long-term quality of the turf we produce.
